Who we serve

For Founders

We partner with CPG brands across the growth spectrum.

Emerging Brand

Your brand is young but serious. The product is dialed in, production has capacity to grow, and you're ready for guidance tailored to your brand's specific goals.

Retail Proven

You've proven demand through regional chains, independent grocers, or a handful of service accounts. Strategic foodservice scaling is the next step.

Power Brand

You have national retail distribution, strong brand recognition, real volume. Whether foodservice is already in the mix or still untapped, it's time to scale with intention.

Why Alfred Street

Foodservice, handled.

“If I knew then what I know now,” they say— that's Alfred Street.

Broker

Great reach, but…
  • Your brand competes for focus on a crowded roster
  • Transactional pitches can miss what sets your brand apart
  • Focus is often managing existing accounts rather than scaling
  • Standard long-term contracts regardless of results
The best of both.

Alfred Street

  • A small, curated roster of brands we believe in
  • Custom strategy built around your goals and budget
  • Longstanding relationships with key buyers and distributors
  • With you from go-to-market strategy all the way through

In-house

Full focus, but…
  • Salary, benefits and ongoing management overhead
  • Hiring and onboarding can take months, delaying revenue growth
  • Vacation, turnover or burnout can stall momentum
  • The wrong hire can force a costly restart

The company we keep

Built on relationships, not transactions.

“Akiva has been a game changer for Snacklins, building our foodservice business from scratch.

Plenty of people claim connections and sales skills; Akiva actually backs it up. He’s well-connected, relationship-driven, commercially minded, and sells the right way to deliver real results.

Within months, we secured several large corporate campuses, and his deep foodservice knowledge has helped us navigate the channel with a strategy that fits our goals.”

Drew RowlandCEO, Snacklins

“Akiva has landed significant foodservice accounts and opened new distribution for us along the way. He's genuinely high-touch: he treats every account as a relationship rather than a transaction, and the operators we work with feel the difference.

I trust him completely with our brand, and I'd recommend him to any founder who's serious about foodservice.”

Nick MaxfieldFounder,
Cabu Latte

“Akiva was fantastic to work with. He brings great relationships and excellent follow-through to the table, and he understands the food service channel deeply. He delivered on what he promised and made the process easy.

I'd recommend Akiva to anyone looking to build their food service business.”

JC HanleyCo-Founder, Forager Project

“As first-time founders, we were looking for a partner to help us enter foodservice. What we found was so much more: a true partner who genuinely cares about our success.

Akiva has taken the time to understand our brand and goals, and his recommendations are thoughtful, honest, and focused on sustainable growth. Akiva has become a trusted advisor and an extension of our team.

In just two months, Akiva built a pipeline of more than 50 qualified opportunities for Pacific Soul.”

About

There was a cookie

The Cookie Department began with
a random question.

Akiva baking early days
The Spark The idea you can't stop thinking about.

Sitting in a Berkeley coffee shop in 2009, Akiva noticed customer after customer ordering a cookie alongside their coffee and wondered — what if the cookie was the coffee? After more than 60 trial batches with his mom in his childhood kitchen, the double chocolate Awaken Baked was born, packing the caffeine equivalent of a full cup of coffee into each cookie.

A Passion Project Grinding until it's real.

At the time the functional foods movement was still a few years off, so the idea of a cookie that actually did something felt genuinely novel. For several years this cookie thing remained a passion project — baking, packaging and delivering until the wee hours, while working days as Sales Manager at an artisan bread bakery.

Akiva with The Cookie Department van
Going All In The leap every founder hopes to take.

And then, he went all in: sold his car for a delivery van, swapped his bachelor loft for pet sitting gigs to save on rent, and made the leap from fresh-baked daily cookies to a shelf-stable packaged product.

Growing Up Scaling to achieve the vision.

Over time, The Cookie Department launched four distinct brands, each attracting their own customer base. Though the Fully Functional line was the heart of the company, Akiva is most proud of Buy a Bar Give a Bar. In partnership with Feed The Children and with the help of The Farmlink Project and Feeding America Member food banks, for every bar purchased, a bar was donated to those with food insecurities.

Nearly two decades building his own CPG company gave Akiva a founder’s perspective and insights that only firsthand experience can teach.

What does working together look like?
We learn your brand, goals, and growth targets, then build a focused foodservice strategy around them. From targeting the right accounts to managing buyer relationships and moving opportunities forward, we stay involved throughout the process.
What do you need from us?
Your product, pricing, capabilities, current distribution, foodservice goals, and anything already working. From there, we identify where we can make the biggest impact.
Can you work with our existing sales team?
Absolutely. We can complement your team with foodservice expertise, buyer relationships, strategy, and additional sales capacity wherever you need it.
Do you have foodservice buyer relationships?
Yes. We’ve built relationships across the channel over years of working in foodservice. We focus on connecting your brand with the buyers and accounts where there’s a real fit.
Do you help with distributors?
Yes. We help identify the right distribution partners, navigate onboarding, and connect distribution to actual customer demand.
How quickly can we get into foodservice?
Every brand and account is different. Some opportunities move quickly, while larger operators and enterprise accounts can take 6 or so months from initial conversation to purchase order. We focus on building the right pipeline, not promising shortcuts.
What if we’re not ready for foodservice?
That’s okay. We can help identify what needs to be in place first, whether that’s pricing, packaging, production, distribution, or strategy. We’d rather help you enter the channel prepared than chase opportunities too early.
Do you guarantee sales?
No. We control the strategy, targeting, outreach, relationships, and sales execution. Ultimately, the customer controls the purchasing decision. Our focus is creating qualified opportunities that can turn into sustainable growth.
